Amanda Foster was born on March 18, 1967 in England, UK. She is a British stuntwoman and actress. In 1997 she signed with the British stunt registry and she became the first black British woman to become a stunt double. For two decades she has dominated the film and television industry appearing in over 250 feature films, television shows, commercials and video productions.
Amanda Foster was original a part-time physical education teacher and mother to her three children. She worked as a model, and then moved into theatre. She performed as an actress and an extra in several stage and film productions. It was while she was working as an extra on Patriot Games, that she discovered that there were no black female stunt actresses in the UK. She trained intensely for six years and in 1997 she was accepted on the UK stunt register in six different disciplines. including martial arts, gymnastics, trampolining, she has a jockey license, motorcycle racing license, HGV license and all weapons including the Broadsword, quarterstaff and firearms. She is also a sharpshooter.
Amanda completed filming for the highly anticipated World War Z (2013) staring Brad Pitt, and has Edge of Tomorrow (2014) with Tom Cruise. She has also performed stunts in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016), Transformers: The Last Knight (2017), and Fast & Furious 9 (2020).
She has stunt doubled in numerous feature films and television series. She was the stunt double for Whoopi Goldberg in A Knight in Camelot (1998), for Halle Berry in Die Another Day (2002), for Vivica A. Fox in Ella Enchanted (2004), for Angela Bassett in London Has Fallen (2016) for Antonia Thomas in Rearview (2017), for Shobna Gulati in Everybody’s Talking About Jamie (2020) and for Phylicia Rashad in Jingle Jangle (filming). She was the stunt double for Beyonce on a Pepsi commercial
Continuing with her enviable portfolio of films she has worked on Scorsese’s Hugo (2011) Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (2010) and five installments of the “Harry Potter” franchise, including Deathly Hallows part 1 and 2. She has also worked on Ninja Assassin (2009), Children of Men (2006), and Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007). Her blockbuster credentials seem to continue on and on.
Amanda Foster has been honored at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles where she won the highly acclaimed ” Taurus World Stunt Award “ in 2003 for her work on the 007 James Bond movie Die Another Day (2002) doubling Halle Berry.
Amanda was recognized by the 2011 Screen Nation Awards with a Vanguard award for her outstanding contribution to film and television.
In January 2012 The 18th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards honored Amanda and the stunt team with the Award for Outstanding Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Motion Picture for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 (2011).
Amanda’s directing debut of the short film Killer Heels (2012) was accredited at the Cannes Film Festival in May of 2012, and at the Marbella Film Festival in October of 2012.
